Is Rohtang Pass open now?

 

Update 25 Jun 2020 : Rohtang pass is open for motorists as of today. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions tourists are not permitted to enter the state. Only essential services are allowed to move in the area.

One can expect the pass to open for tourist somewhere in August 2020 for till November 2020. After November it will be closed again for winter.

Rohtang pass was closed for tourists for  on 17th Of November 2019 by the authorities. The reopening of Rohtang pass was scheduled to May 2020.

In 2019 the pass was closed temporarily few times due to snowfalls. Considering the current situation of pass because of COVID, BRO and Himachal government has decided to call it a no for tourists.

People of Lahaul and Spiti can still travel through HRTC bus which passes through Rohtang tunnel till the weather permits. However Himachal Authorities will make sure that only local residents would be allowed for non-vacation purpose to resume the journey.

When will Rohtang Pass open again?

BRO has opened Rohtang pass already. Tourists are not granted permissions yet.

Tourists has to wait till 2020 Aug to enjoy the Rohtang pass with the dream adventures associated.
