Train – One can take train either on 13th or 14th September for now. Ministry of Railway is yet to communicate the further schedule of train.

Jeep – Jeep rides wereclosed till October 10, 2019 last year. One can hire jeep from Goa for the cost of INR 1000 to 1500. It takes 2 hour to reach the Dudhsagar falls. There is a kilometer of trekking involved however.  One can take their personal vehicle or train or bus till Kulem and then take forest departments jeep to Dudhsagar falls. This Jeep costs around 500 per person and 100 odd needs to be spent as entry fee and life jacket fee.

One can hire Jeep starting to Dudhsagar falls this year may be from october.

Trekking – One can trek either from Goa side or from castle rock. These treks are open for enthusiasts now.

 

Which is better for Dudhsagar falls? Jeep or train?

For now, it is jeep, which we find better as a Jeep guy allows you to explore, the magnificent falls for 1 hour 30 minutes, whereas train just stops for 10 minutes. Point two would be, its morning 8:30 to 9 when you get to see falls in Belagavi to Vasco train. So you should be in the station of Belagavi or any intermediate before 6. This calls you for a stay in Belagaum or Londa Junction. On the contrary, Jeeps starts at 6 from Goa towards Dudhsagar falls.

 

Which is the best season to visit Dudhsagar falls?

September to January would be best time to visit, as the Dudh sagar falls would be in full glory. One can still visit the falls till may, as it is rare to see water drying up in Dudhsagar. Usually monsoon should be avoided considering landslides. Jeeps are not allowed between June 1st to September 30. This year Jeep ride starts on October 10.

 

How much does it cost to visit Dudhsagar falls?

The fare would be 2000 rupee on an average for a couple visiting from Goa. Break down would be as below.

1000 INR for car from your hotel to Kulem (can be reduced to 40 or 50 INR, if you take bus or train service)

500 INR Jeep ride from Kulem/Colem to Dudhsagar falls

50 INR for entry into sanctuary

40 INR for life jacket

 

What time of day is best to visit Dudhsagar falls?

While falls will be open between 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM in non-monsoon season, we suggest morning would be the best time to visit, so that you can come back for lunch to Goa, by 1PM or so. Post lunch, people jam would be comparatively low. Around 1200 people visit Dudhsagar falls every day in season as there is a cap on number of jeeps that can run in a day. This can bring in another reason for you to start early from Goa.
